Random Tuesday Thoughts - Sickness All Around

randomtuesday

I've been dealing with sick children for the longest time. At least if feels that way. Abby has been sick off and on all winter. We finally figured out she's allergic to our cats. She got pneumonia and was sick for a week. A month later, she got a very painful ear infection. Two weeks after that she ended up with a fever for three days for no apparent reason. A few days later she started coughing. She has the occasional coughing fit at night and last week it was really bad. Well, they finally decided to go ahead and say she has asthma. I have asthma and have suspected her of having it for awhile. We dealt with that last week and I'll be damned if the baby didn't wake up Sunday morning with a cold and fever. She's keeping a fever and not getting better so I took her to the doctor this morning. Her right ear is very infected. As I sit here writing this, I'm noticing she has these weird red splotches appearing on her lower legs. I hope that's not anything.

I can't even think of anything else to write. My life has been consumed with sickness.

Dr. Phil was talking about a study that says that mom's have 30-40 hours of leisure time every week... HA!

Seller of the Week-Just in time for Easter

I love featuring sellers on my blog. There are so many talented people out there, and I enjoy getting eyes on their great items.

This weeks seller is Susan. Her shop on Etsy is called The Q Store. She makes the most adorable plush dolls. If you're looking for something unique to include in an Easter basket, this is the perfect place. Here's a little more about Susan in her own words:

"My given name is Susan, but everyone calls me Susie Q! It just fits me, I guess! When I was trying to find the name for my shop I could'nt get any of the choices I wanted, already taken. So, as I pondered the problem sitting at the computer my husband walked by and said how about "The Q Store"....it fit and here it is.

I have always been a sewer! I started sewing when I was just 10 years old. I got a mini Singer sewing machine for Christmas and have been sewing ever since. I enjoy creating and sharing so my shop is all about fun. I have several new items in the works and at the moment I am working on a contract of Teddy Bears for a special customer in the UK."

Here are a few of the items Susan offers in her shop.

I was lucky enough to receive the most adorable bunny from Susan.

I think this bunny is too cute. It's soft and very well made. I'm holding on to it to give to Abby in her Easter basket. She's really gonna love it. I love that it's handmade and not like anything you'll find in a store.

You have the opportunity to win one of these bunnies too! All you need to do is leave a comment after this post. Please make sure you leave an email address that you check often.

For additional entries do the following and leave a comment that you did so:

Random Tuesday Thoughts

randomtuesday

I'm so happy the weather is finally starting to get warmer. It's that time of year when you get teased with nice weather on one day and then cold and yucky the next day. That's ok with me because those nice days are awesome.

I'm currently looking around for a photographer who'll give me a good price on a session with the girls. I'm such a bad mom that I haven't had a single professional picture taken of baby Ava, who is almost 7 months old. By the time Abby was that old, I think she'd already done this 3 times.

Abby is getting really picky with her eating. It seems all she ever wants is a happy meal or some type of treat. She turns her nose up at dinner every night. If I make something I know she doesn't like, then I'll make her something else. I refuse to make something else if it's something I know she has eaten in the past. It makes her mad but I think it's ridiculous to make her something different unless I know she really doesn't like it. Last night I made a pork roast, mashed potatoes, and peas. She immediately called it "gross". I told her that she would eat it or she would be hungry. Less than 30 minutes later she was telling me how good it was.

We went to a roller skating rink recently. Some things never change. When I was 12 years old and hanging out at the skating rink, there was always "that guy". The guy who was older than everyone and could skate really well. He would stay on the rink the entire time, skating in and out of the other kids, who were stumbling their way around the rink. He would be slightly dancing as he would do this and was just so cool to all of us younger kids. I couldn't believe it, but "that guy" was there. It was so funny. I didn't think he was quite as cool as I did back in the day.

I've got to find Abby something green to wear to school tomorrow. That girl is so nervous that she's gonna get pinched on "King Patrick's Day" (she keeps calling it that even though we correct her). I don't think she had anything green so I may have to run out and get something.

Fun Times at the Circus

We were provided with tickets by Mom Central to go to opening night of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus. We really had a blast! The things that some of these performers can do is just absolutely amazing. I want to remind folks that the show will be running in Dayton from April 29th through May 2nd. You can get a discount on a 4-pack of tickets to a weekday show for $44 or $4 off a weekend ticket by using the code MOM at Ticketmaster. Additional tickets are still $11.

Here are a few pictures from our great time. Unfortunately, I wasn't very prepared and my camera batteries died in the middle of the show. Make sure you have extra batteries!

Resolution Report

So it's been too long since I updated you guys on my resolutions. I've been exercising everyday. I'm very proud of that. I think I'm ready to start adding in some variety and more intensity. I'm thinking about starting the Couch to 5k program. I'm just afraid of failing at it, so I'm struggling with whether I want to try. The eating still isn't great. My biggest issue is planning. I'm only going to do well if I plan ahead. I have been working on that this week. I need to plan out meals and snacks and have them available. I've got a bad habit of going half the day without eating and then putting anything in my mouth because I'm starving.

I've been working on getting the house more organized with an overall goal of easing some of my stress. My husband has really been putting forth an effort to help around the house, and it's making a huge difference. I love a man that will fold laundry (something I hate with a passion).

On the financial front, I've been doing well at keeping up with my favorite blogs that help me find the best grocery deals and bargains. I can definitely do better and so will continue to work on that as well.

I hope those of you out there that made New Year's resolutions haven't given up on them. I'd love to hear about your progress.
